It’s been a while since my last post but strangely, it doesn’t seem like much time has elapsed at all. Needless to say, I’ve been extremely busy with work and life, which has undoubtedly caused the time to pass so quickly.

Although I’ve only had a taste of the work I’ll be doing here for the next year, I don’t think I’ll become bored or enjoy it any less than I have these past couple weeks. Slowly, my classes are becoming more fluid and a little better with each go. I still have a lot to improve, but I’m no longer worried about not being capable of teaching. Without exception, the students are great and they always keep me engaged and on my toes. Even off the street, I’m consistantly amazed at how much English the average Japanese person knows. The young people in particular have a relatively extensive vocabulary.

After a late night garbage run, I’ve finally disposed of the last bit of remaining garbage in the apartment. With just a few more items on my list, things already look pretty good. The final task on my list of things to do is to repair the sliding screen door. It’s already starting to get hot and humid here and I would hate not to be able to open my door for fear of mosquitoes and other insects. I think that one final trip to the DIY store should solve that problem.

Those few tasks aside, there really isn’t much happening here above and beyond just getting by. While the smallest tasks of ever day life, such as grocery shopping and travel are still adventures, things have begun to settle down. Within the next few weeks I’ll be having an internet connection installed in my apartment and I’ll be able to post more frequently and with more photos. I hope everyone everywhere is doing well. Keep me posted.
