Over the winter break I was invited by my coworker’s husband and language exchange partner, Masakazu, to take a trip to the neighboring prefecture to go to a ‘kaki-yaki’ restaurant. Although I had somewhat of an idea what to expect from an ‘oyster-grill’ restaurant, the actual shop certainly surprised me. While I expected a well-decorated and furnished establishment, the place was very sparse and resembled a converted fish warehouse. That being said, it was a great time and the food was excellent! I’m really glad I was able to go. For the few hours after arriving and before eating, we visited a famous battlefield and mountain on Shikoku. The view from the top was really nice and the temple we visited was quite interesting as well. It’s certainly worth another trip in the future.
