Playing Around with Embedded Video

I’m playing around with embedding video online. I’ll be putting up a sample video using a few different services over the next few days/weeks/months… Hope that’s OK!
New Experiment

I’ve been messing around with a few tweaks to my website and messageboard. I know that I spend a disproportionate amount of time messing around with this stuff when you look at the number of people who actually follow this site, but it’s become a bit of a hobby. Over the past few weeks I’ve:
1. skinned my message messageboard (succeeded)
2. tried to integrate Facebook Connect into my WordPress blog (failed)
3. tried to integrate Facebook Connect into the message board (failed)
4. returned my message board to the default skin because I didn’t like the layout (succeeded)
5. added Dropbox integration to my WordPress blog (succeeded)
6. added location data to my wordpress blog (succeeded…sort of, it’s just a map)
With a lot more to come I’m sure.
In addition to that, I’m still doing well here in Imabari. The weather seems to have finally turned and the past few days have been quite warm and beautiful. I’ve been making trips back and forth between here and Tokushima once every two weeks. While they’ve been quite enjoyable so far, I’m sure that once the routine sets in, they’ll become more of a chore. It’s definitely worth the trouble though. I’ve something quite nice waiting for me on the other end of every three hour bus ride out of Ehime.

New Stuff

I’ve been making entries recently about topics other than my life in Japan. I was hoping to make my blog a bit more interesting and a little less self-indulgent by doing so. I’ve been pretty good about keeping things organized using the ‘categories’ system. If you want to see only the stuff about my life, just click on the green folder icon at the top-right of the page and select the category ‘journal’. By clicking on the other categories, you’ll get similar results filtered for the various categories. I hope that’s not too confusing. If it is, let me know and I’ll try to fix it!
Broken Photos in Posts

I just arrived back in my apartment after a very long trip from New York to Imabari. It’s good to be back, but it was a bit difficult leaving home. I’ll have a lot more to say about the past two weeks in a later post (which will come out within the next week or so) but I just wanted to tell you that there are a bunch of broken pictures in many of my past posts. I shifted some stuff around on my server and deleted some content. I thought the content was held in duplicate in a different directory, but it turns out that it wasn’t. It just means that I need to add the photos one by one for each post. It’s not difficult, it will just take some time. Rather than sit down and painfully do it all in one shot, I’m going to do it slowly over the next few weeks.
There’s no change to the most recent entries and you won’t notice unless you try to visit old posts. Anyway, sorry about that!
Site is Back!

For the past two days I’ve been playing around with my blog and think that I’ve finally settled on what it’s going to be for at least the next few months. I have to apologize to Andrew for having him reregister not once, but twice.
So, the main page: www.matsuuchi.com has become a ’splash page’ that just has a link to this blog as well as a message board hosted by myself. In the future, if there is a need, I’m going to branch other sites off of the matsuuchi.com domain. For now though, my blog’s address is: ‘www.matsuuchi.com/hiroki’ and the messageboard is ‘www.matsuuchi.com/messageboard’.
Simple, right?
