The Rest of the Two Weeks

What a great trip back home.  Although the trip to and from New York was painful, it was really nice to be able to spend the time at home, enjoy freedom from responsibility and see old friends.  I was hoping to be able to post every few days, but as I expected, the overwhelming laziness of being on vacation took over and I only managed to churn out one over the span of two weeks.  I’m fairly certain that I met up with the only two people who read this.

The weeks leading up to the trip back to East Hampton were incredibly busy so I didn’t have much of a chance to get excited about going home for the first time in two years.  The bus, ferry, bus, plane, bus and plane ride was my chance to really let it sink in.  While putting together the itinerary was a challenge, it was a bit of a rush traveling so far with on-the-spot planning.

After that one post covering the first two days, I went to a party with half a dozen high school friends, met up with Laurel and went ice skating, ate some Mexican with Allison, went to the city and spent time with Laura and Allison again, and filled the in-between time with my family.  And that’s pretty much it.

I love Japan a lot, but being home really made me realize how much I also love New York.  I remember chatting with a former co-worker about this same topic many months ago and what she she said really stuck with me.  She had spent many years living abroad and had to return to Japan for family business.  After that brief trip home, she realized that it was time to go back and later that year, she was back in Japan living in her hometown.  Although I didn’t want to believe it at the time, I had a feeling that given a few months or years, I would probably feel the same way.  Seems like things have reached an equilibrium between wanting to stay here and wanting to settle back in New York.

I really did miss the pizza in New York too.

I put up a bunch of pictures from the trip back.  Most of them aren’t terribly interesting, but there are a few nice shots of a very snowy East Hampton and a few of the newly opened park in Manhattan called the High Line.  Although I came back with 110 photos in total, I wish I had taken more.  I ate some pretty fantastic food and met some pretty cool people which/who I would have liked to have taken a snapshot of to remember it/them by.  Is that sentence correct?

Busy Few Months

These past few months have been busy to say the least. In addition to a slew of projects that came my way, I’ve been scrambling to try to figure out my next move. Unfortunately, I can’t say too much on this public blog, but if you’re really curious you can leave me a comment or send me an email directly. Maybe you’re not though…

I’ve uploaded a few pictures from the past few months. Some from a small New Year’s Party and some from my “mini-vactation” I took a few weeks ago. As always, I hope you all are doing well. Next month (April) will be another big month for me. I hope it goes well.
