Settling into Life in Tokushima

Although these past few weeks have been quite hectic, I feel like I’ve been settling nicely back into life in Tokushima.  I’ve been making a countless number of trips to the furniture shops around Tokushima and trying to get things together for the August 22nd show that will film in less than a week.  That being said, I’m really happy to be back and am quite enjoying my time here.

I took a trip to the Awa-Odori festival again this year and shot a short video.  Take a look and let me know what you think!

After Obon

After five full days of dancing and three weeks of recovery, things have finally settled down. I’ve resumed my regular work schedule and have directed the remainder of my efforts toward studying for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test); I only have three short months to get my act together. Wish me luck!

Obon was unbelievably fun and certainly one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. Almost overnight, the entire city is transformed into the grounds for a giant festival. Almost continuously, for four full days, in every corner of Tokushima you can find street vendors, drunk Japanese people, music and dancing. Although I hope to find some within the next few weeks, the only pictures I have of myself dressed in my dance group’s summer kimono are on my cellphone and non-transferable to my computer. I’ll do my best to get a hold of a few within the next week. I hope you all are doing well.
