The East End of Long Island (South Fork)

If you click on the “View Larger Map” link at the bottom of the map, you can see a lot of really nice media provided by Google. After the map opens in the Google website, click on the “More” tab at the top right corner of the page and select the media you’d like to overlay on the map. There are some beautiful photos and videos as well as a nice collection of Wikipedia links regarding some of the more recognizable spots on the South Fork.

It’s a lot of fun! Take a look!

Last Year's Ocean Day

I hope you’re all enjoying the balmy weather and getting excited for Ocean Day 2010!  If not, here are some photos taken by Jana Matsuuchi of last year’s event.

Although I wasn’t able to attend the event last year, I heard only positive things after the fact.  With the addition of tubing done off of Steve’s power boat and the plethora of kayaks available there was quite a selection of activities.  For those who attended last year, was there anything particular that you enjoyed?  Anything that you’d like to see in future iterations of Ocean Day?  Please feel free to leave a comment and tell us your thoughts!

And of course, keep your fingers crossed for good weather!

Memorial Day Weekend Family Camping

Five families went camping over Memorial Day weekend at Cedar Point Park in eastern Long Island, New York.  The weather was perfect, and food around the campfire was especially delicious.

Everyone enjoyed swimming, kayaking and catching clams.   And there was a lot of interaction with nature.   The kids were especially excited to find a horseshoe crab in the water, and a land turtle was a guest in the campsite for a while.

S’ mores around the campfire were a big hit.

It was the perfect entertainment for all of the nine young children
